BCB postpones Pakistan tour

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has postponed their Pakistan’s tour in the wake of the coronavirus epidemic. The Tigers were scheduled to visit Pakistan in April to play one-off ODI (Apr 1) and one Test (Apr 5-9) in Karachi.

Bangladesh’s tour of Pakistan consisted of three legs. The first leg included three Twenty20 internationals in Lahore on Jan 24, 25 and 27. Pakistan won the series 2-0 as the third game was rained off.

The second leg of the tour included the first Test match – a part of the ICC Test Championship. The match was played in Rawalpindi from Feb 7-11 and Pakistan crushed the visitors by an innings and 44 runs.

COVID-19 is affecting 157 countries and territories around the world and one international conveyance (the Diamond Princess cruise ship harboured in Yokohama, Japan).

The World Health Organization on Mar 11 declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic but added that it’s not too late for countries to act.

Bangladesh has so far reported eight cases. Four of these patients had come from coronavirus infected countries in Europe.

On Sunday (Mar 15), the government announced that the first three patients had been discharged.
