Govt warns of action against spreading rumour over salt

Govt warns of action against spreading rumour over salt

The government on Tuesday (Nov 19) warned of stern action against any attempt to spread rumours over salt and ruled out the possibility of any salt crisis in the country.

“Stern action will be taken if any individual or quarter tries to spread rumours over salt or any other thing on social media or in any other way,” said a press note issued in Dhaka.

It said: “A quarter is out to spread rumours in the country in a planned way. . . An ill attempt is going on to spread rumours centering on availability of salt in the country.”

The Industries Ministry has already informed the media that there is adequate stock of edible salt in country and new salt produced in the country will come to market in December, it added.

“The new stock of salt will be added to the current stock. As a result there is no crisis of salt or there is no possibility of any crisis,” the press note said.
