Banks asked to keep enough cash in ATMs during Eid

Banks asked to keep enough cash in ATMs during Eid

Bangladesh Bank has asked all banks across the country to keep sufficient money at their ATM (Automated Teller Machine) booths during the Eid-ul-Azha holidays to enable clients to withdraw money.

The central bank issued a circular to this effect on Monday (Aug 5) directing the banks to ensure uninterrupted service through ATM booths, POS machines, and e-payment gateways during the holidays.

The Payment System Department of Bangladesh Bank has sent the circular to the CEOs of all commercial banks of the country, local media reported.

The circular also asked the scheduled banks to keep their card-based transactions open 24/7 on the Eid holidays for the benefit of consumers.

Customers should be informed about any transactions through SMS alert service.

The banks have been asked to ensure nonstop ATM services and deploy fulltime security guards at their ATMs to ensure security of the booths.

If the banks face any technical problem at their ATMs, they will have to resolve the problems immediately, according to the circular.

Banks will have to take necessary steps to ensure security at all of the systems during the Eid vacation.

The banks would remain closed for straight five days from Friday (Aug 9).
