If there’s anyone who can play a female drug lord with utter sass, it’s Jennifer Lopez. The actress, who’s celebrating turning 50 this week, has signed up to portray real-life criminal Griselda Blanco in a new project titled 'The Godmother'.
Griselda was the notorious Colombian drug queen pin who ruled Miami in the ’70s and ’80s.
Aside from starring and producing the drama, JLo might also be directing the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter, making this her first feature directorial debut.
Blanco’s story was previously told by Catherine Zeta-Jones in the Lifetime TV movie 'Cocaine Grandmother' in 2017.
Griselda was gunned down aged 69, after serving 18 years in prison for funneling thousands of pounds of cocaine and ordering 40 assassination hits on her enemies.
She was killed by two shooters on motorbikes in front of her pregnant daughter-in-law while leaving a butcher’s shop in Medellin in 2012.
