Rain delays Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka match

Rain delays Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka match

The weather affected the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup for the second day in a row as Bangladesh's game against Sri Lanka was delayed. Rain ensured the covers remained on the pitch and square and prevented the toss taking place as scheduled at 3:00 p.m. (BD time). Play was set to start at 3:30 p.m.

Only 7.3 overs were possible in the match between West Indies and South Africa at Southampton on Monday.

"It's a grim scene. Play today is extremely unlikely," said BBC Test Match Special's Simon Mann.

Sri Lanka's match against Pakistan at Bristol on Jun 7 was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

The Tigers managed an enterprising start in their World Cup assault beating South Africa in the first game but they lost two consecutive games to New Zealand and the hosts England.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, lost their first World Cup match to the current runners up New Zealand by a big margin of 10 wickets. But in the second game, they came up victorious against Afghanistan by 34 runs and earned two points. They got another point in their third game when the game was washed out due to persistent rain.
