This year, the minimum Fitra has been fixed at Tk 70 per person. The maximum Fitra has been set at Tk 1,980, said Mohammad Nizam Udin, Assistant Director of Islamic Foundation.
Islamic Foundation Bangladesh fixed the amount today at a meeting chaired by Hafez Maulana Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, senior Pesh Imam of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque and president of the National Fitra Fixing Committee, local media reported.
The amount has been fixed considering the market prices of flour, dates and other essential items.
Fitra, also called as Fitrah or Fitrana or Zakat al Fitr, is the obligatory charity that Muslims have to give to the poor before the Eid Jamaat. It is obligatory on every family. Without giving this, their Eid is not complete.
