Sheikh Fazle Fahim elected FBCCI President

Sheikh Fazle Fahim elected FBCCI President

Sheikh Fazle Fahim has been elected uncontested as the president of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) for the 2019-2021 term. He replaces Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin at the country’s apex business body to take over as its 22rd president.

Sheikh Fazle Fahim, Managing Director of Obsidian Bangladesh Limited, has been elected as the president of the country’s apex trade body, Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), for 2019-2021 tenure.

Md Ali Ashraf, chairman of Federation of FBCCI election board, announced the names of its president and seven other vice-presidents at a meeting at its office in Dhaka on Monday (Apr 29), local media reported.

Fahim, who has been representing Gopalganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will be the 22nd president of the FBCCI. He replaced Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, also a former president of BGMEA.

In the last FBCCI elections in May 2017, Mohiuddin of the Association Group was elected president.

However, election to the trade body was not held this year because of the absence of the opposition panel, although the electoral board announced the schedule. As a result, the electoral board announced Fahim as the president of the FBCCI.
