Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) imposed restriction on carrying of all types of explosives, crackers as well as explosion of firecrackers in the city on the occasion of holy Lailatul Barat, scheduled to be observed on Sunday (Apr 21) night.  The ban will be effective for 12 hours from 6:00 p.m. on Sunday to 6:00 a.m. Monday (Apr 22), according to a DMP media release issued on Saturday (Apr 20).

DMP commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia enforced the ban under Section 28 of the DMP Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance-1976 (Ordinance No III/76).

He also requested city dwellers to follow the restriction aiming to maintain the sanctity of Lailatul Barat, local media reported.
