All the branches of scheduled banks and financial institutions will remain closed on Monday (Apr 22) across the country, on the occasion of holy Lailatul Barat. Bangladesh Bank issued a new circular on Wednesday (Apr 17) in this regard.
As per earlier circular issued on Nov 29 last year, Apr 21 had been fixed as Lailatul Barat holiday. However, according to the decision taken by the National Moon Sighting Committee, the holy Lailatul Barat will be observed in Bangladesh on Sunday (Apr 21) night. So, the branches of the commercial banks and financial institutions across the country will remain closed on Apr 22 (Monday), said the circular.
The central bank has sent the circular to the chief executive officer of all the banks and financial institutions, local media reported.
