Dhaka Dynamites beat Khulna Titans by six wickets to qualify for playoffs of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 on Saturday (Feb 2) at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.

Dhaka Dynamites beat Khulna Titans on Saturday by six wickets and booked a place in playoffs as the fourth team of the tournament. Upul Tharanga adjudged Player of The Match for trucking 42 off 30 balls with four fours and two sixes to win the game for Dhaka.

Dhaka will face Chittagong Vikings in the eliminator match of the tournament on Feb 4 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at 1:30 p.m. If Dhaka can win that game they will advance to the second Qualifier of the tournament.

Khulna posted a moderate total of 123 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. Rubel Hossain and Shakib Al Hasan took two wickets each for the Dynamites.

Dhaka chased the target in 14.5 overs where Upul Tharanga and Sunil Narine added 43 runs in the opening stand and set the platform for the win.

Narine was the first man to get dismissed for Dhaka. He posted 35 before hunting by Saddam Hossain. After his dismissal, Dhaka lost Shakib (1) and Mizanur Rahman (0) in quick succession.

However, Tharanga’s 42 along with Nurul Hasan’s unbeaten 27 helped Dhaka to win the game with 31 balls to play.

Mahmudullah Riayd, the captain of Khulna, took two wickets for his team while Saddam Hossain and Taijul Islam bagged one wicket each. 

While Dhaka qualify for the playoffs of the tournament surpassing Rajshahi Kings by run-rate, Khulna finished the tournament at the bottom of the points table. They played 12 matches and won only two of them.
