Chittagong Vikings finally ended their home curse in the 6th Bangladesh Premier League when they edged past Dhaka Dynamites by 11 runs at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Wednesday (Jan 30). With the win, Chittagong progress to the next round as well.

Chittagong Vikings beat Dhaka Dynamites by 11 runs in the 37th match of the UCB 6th Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 cricket at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Wednesday.

Electing to bat first, Chittagong Vikings piled up a competitive total of 174 for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then restricted Dhaka Dynamites to 163 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.

Chittagong made an auspicious start as openers Mohammad Shahzad and CS Delport put on together 42 runs in the opening stand before Shahzad (21) was stumped out by wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan of Sunil Narine. Delport hit a superb 71. His 57-ball innings was laced with four sixes and five fours.

After Shahzad's dismissal, Delport and Yasir Ali added together 46 runs in the second wicket stand before Yasir (19) was caught at the deep square leg by ACR Brich off Narine when Chittagong's score was 88 for the loss of two wickets.

After Yasir's departure, Delport and Mushfiqur Rahim contributed 79 runs for the third wicket partnership before Mushfiqur was caught at the long-off by Shuvagata Hom off Andre Russell when Chittagong's total was 167 for the loss of three wickets. Mushfiqur Rahim hit a captain's knock of 43. His 24-ball knock saw four fours and two sixes.

After Mushfiq's dismissal, Delport was caught at the long-off by Shuvagata Hom off Andre Russel in the next ball when Chittagong score was 167 for the loss of four wickets. Then Russell fulfilled his hat-trick as MD Shanaka was caught at the fine-leg by Mizanur Rahman in the next ball of Russell when Chittagong's total was 167 for the loss of five wickets.

Andre Russell of Dhaka captured three wickets at the cost of 38 runs, while Sunil Narine claimed a pair of wickets instead of 20 runs.

Later, Dhaka Dynamites faced disaster as they lost early three wickets for 23 runs. Then Shakib Al Hasan and Nurul Hasan contributed together 50 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Nurul Hasan was trapped leg before wicket by Delport when Dhaka's score was 73 for the loss of four wickets.

Shakib and Russell contributed together 56 runs in the six-wicket stand before Russell was caught at the deep mid-wicket by Delport off Shanaka when Dhaka's total was 139 for the loss of six wickets.

Dhaka's hope went in vain when Shakib was caught at the long-on by Nayeem Hasan off Shanaka when Dhaka's score was 154 for the loss of eight wickets.

Shakib notched up a splendid 53. His 42-ball innings was laced with six fours. Russell hit a stormy 39. His 23-ball knock saw four fours and two sixes. Nurul Hasan made 33 off 23 balls featuring two fours and two sixes.

Abu Jayed of Chittagong Vikings grabbed three wickets at the cost of 25 runs, while Shanaka bagged two wickets for 34 runs.

Delport and Nayeem got one wicket each for 31 and 37 runs respectively.
