Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) called upon demonstrating ready-made garment workers to return to their respective workplace by Monday (Jan 14).
BGMEA president Siddiqur Rahman made the call while addressing a press conference on the prevailing unrest in the garment sector at BGMEA Bhaban in the city on Sunday (Jan 13), local media reports said.
He urged the workers of various factories - who have been demonstrating for several days in Gazipur and Ashulia areas - to go back to their work.
Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries president Md. Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, senior officials of BGMEA were also present at the programme.
