PSG out of French League Cup, Monaco progress

Paris St Germain have been knocked out of the French League Cup after unfancied Guingamp scored two of the three penalties they were awarded to book their place in the semi-finals with a 2-1 victory. PSG had won the competition five years in a row and had not lost a domestic fixture this season, but were undone when Guingamp grabbed the winner from the spot in stoppage time on Wednesday (Jan 9).

Unbeaten Ligue 1 leaders and holders Paris Saint-Germain suffered a shock French League Cup exit against the top-flight's bottom side Guingamp.

Having missed one earlier, Marcus Thuram - son of France legend Lilian - scored an injury-time penalty, adding to Yeni N'Gbakoto's earlier spot-kick for a 2-1 win.

Neymar netted for PSG, who have won the trophy in the last five seasons.

Thierry Henry's struggling Monaco side also progressed to the semi-finals.

Monaco, in 19th place in the table and five points off safety, went through courtesy of an 8-7 penalty shootout victory over Rennes after the game finished 1-1.
