Businesses want Sheikh Hasina as PM for next term

Top business leaders and entrepreneurs across the political divides on Wednesday (Dec 19) said that they wanted to see Sheikh Hasina as the Prime Minister of the country for the next term again. The leaders also termed her as the ‘symbol of hope’ for the entire business community, common people and the country’s thriving growth.

They made the remarks at a business conference organised by Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka to express their support to the leadership of Sheikh Hasina in future.

Top business entrepreneurs, chief executive officers, managing directors of manufacturing industries and export-import enterprises, leaders of steel industries, service oriented organisations, power sector and information and communication technology and leaders of trade bodies joined the conference, local media reports said.

A video documentary on the development of various sectors and mega projects undertaken by the present government was screened at the programme that began with the playing of the national anthem.

Ltd Rupali Chowdhury, MD of Mohammadi Group Rubana Huq, chairman of Envoy Group Kutub Uddin Ahmed, lawmaker Tipu Munsi, president of BKMEA AKM Selim Osman, chairman of Islam group Atiqul Islam, chairman of HaMeem Group AK Azad, chairman of BSRM Steel Ali Hossain Akbar FCA, and former president of DCCI Anwarul Alam Pervez spoke, among others, on the occasion.
