HC asks EC to register ‘Trinamul BNP’ as political party

The High Court has instructed the Election Commission to register 'Trinamool BNP' of Barrister Nazmul Huda as a political party. The bench of Justices Tariq ul Hakim and Md Shohrowardi came up with the order following a petition on Sunday (Nov 4), local media reports said.

Huda represented his party while Deputy Attorney General Amatul Karim represented the state, at the petition hearing.

Earlier on Aug 14, the High Court issued a rule asking the government to explain as to why the authorities concerned should not be directed to register 'Trinamool BNP' of Huda as a political party.

The Election Commission on Jun 14 sent a notice to Huda where it showed three reasons for not registering his party.

Later, Huda filed a writ petition challenging the Election Commission notice.

In November, 2015, Huda, a former minister of the former Bangladesh Nationalist Party government, launched 'Trinamool BNP'.
