PM opens world’s largest burn institute in Dhaka

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated the world’s largest burn and plastic surgery institute in the capital on Wednesday (Oct 24). The Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute was inaugurated in Chankharpul area in Dhaka, local media reports said.

While talking to media the chief coordinator of the institute Dr Samanta Lal Sen said that the institute will provide best treatment facilities to patients with burn injuries. Besides, it will help treat more burn patients at a time and make more plastic surgeons to meet the country’s demand, he added.

Dr Samanta also said the institute with 500 beds, 50 intensive care unit, and 12 operation theatres would be a centre of excellence for treatment, research, and studies.

The construction work of the main building began on Apr 27, 2016 after Sheikh Hasina had inaugurated the construction on Apr 6 in that year.
