Ayub Bachchu passes away

Ayub Bachchu, a legendary guitarist, songwriter, composer and singer of Bangladesh, breathed his last at his Moghbazar residence in the capital Dhaka on Thursday (Oct 18) morning. He was 56. The musician was brought in an unconscious state to the Square Hospital where the doctors declared him dead around 10 a.m., hospital sources said. He probably died of heart attack.

Ayub Bachchu, prominent singer, composer and founder of rock band Love Runs Blind (LRB), passed away at his Moghbazar residence in Dhaka this morning at the age of 56. He was brought to Square Hospital around 9:30 a.m. when doctors declared him dead, according to sources.

Ayub Bachchu was born Aug 16, 1962 in Chattogram, Bangladesh. He is a famous Bangladeshi rock musician. He is the founding member and leader of the rock band LRB. 

He started his music career from that place with the band 'Feelings' in 1978. During 1980 to 1990 he was a member of 'Souls' as the lead guitarist. In 1991 he formed his own band titled LRB.
LRB released its first album as a double one. The type was hard rock based like Ghum Bhanga Shohorey Madhobi, Dhakar Sondha etc.

Even though he started out as a Rock musician he eventually branched out to the more mainstream music of Bangladesh.

His first instrumental album was 'Sound of Silence'. Beside Joe Satriani and Jimi Hendrix, LRB draw inspirations from many other rock bands like Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Dire Straits, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Guns N'Roses, and Nirvana. 

He once mentioned to have 30 guitars in his collection.

He is generally seen with Ibanez and ESP guitars, though he prefers PRS, Carvin and Fender Stratocaster also. He has his own recording Studio at Mogbazar, Dhaka named, AB Kitchen. Bachchu had a live performance with Richard At Legang (France), Remo Fernandez, Nandon Bugchi and Bikmar Gosh of India, Azam Khan, Miles, War Faze, and Black of Bangladesh.

AB appeared as a judge in IIM Joka 'Rock Fest' (India), Benson and Hedges Star Search 1 and 2, DRockstar 1, and Bangladeshi Idol. Moreover He has worked as a music director for late Khalid Hasn Milu, late Sheikh Ishtiaqe, Nasim Ali Khan, Tapon Chowdhury, Hasan Abedur Reza Jewel, Alam Ara Minu, Rupom, Kaniz Suborna and others.

President Md. Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Special Envoy to the Prime Minister and Chairman of Jatiya Party HM Ershad, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, State Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed, and State Minister for Information Advocate Tarana Halim expressed deep shock at the demise of popular star, local media reports said.

Besides, Leader of the Opposition and Jatiya Party co-chairman Raushan Ershad, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Chattogram Samity, Chattagrom Journalists Forum, Dhaka (CJFD), cultural activists, singers and people from all strata of society lamented his demise.

Body of the singer will be taken to the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka at 10:00 a.m. Friday (Oct 19) to be exposed to the people. His first Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at the Supreme Court Jame Mosque after Juma prayers Friday. Later, his body will be taken to Chattogram, and be laid to rest at family graveyard after further Namaz-e-Janaza on Saturday (Oct 20).
