Bangladesh win six awards in APICTA

Bangladesh has won a champion award and five merit awards at the prestigious APICTA Awards 2018. At Senior Student Category RAJUK Uttara Model College’s Project Feed’em has become the champion. Besides, Bangladesh has won five merit awards in five different categories. The merit awardees are as follows:

- Sindabad.com Limited’s project Sindabad.com Limited in Cross Category (Start-up)
- a2i & SoftBD Limited’s Joint Project Eksheba in Inclusion and Community Services Category
- St Joseph Higher Secondary School’s Project Sobjanta in Senior Student Category
- ACI Agribusiness Project Fosholi in Industrial (Agricultural) Category
- Zantrik Limited’s Zantrik 911 in Industrial (Transport) Category

This year 266 projects have competed with 15 economies. On winning one Champion and five Merit Awards, Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) President Syed Almas Kabir has expressed his delirious delight saying, from April onwards we launched a campaign for BASIS National ICT Awards.

From that event we've nominated the best 29 projects from 28 companies/institutions. After the successful completion of BASIS National ICT Awards in August, we trained the nominated projects for a month. Winning six awards in a global contest surely uploaded Bangladesh to an immense height.

BASIS National ICT Awards 2018 convener, and Judge of APICTA Didarul Alam said, BASIS is working relentlessly for the improvement of ICT industries. Alongside our members, we are working for the betterment of youths. Winning championship in the Senior Student Category achieved honor not only for BASIS but also for the country.

On Oct 9 APICTA 2018 kicked off with a grand celebration. At the inaugural session host of APICTA’18, Chinese Coordinator of APICTA, and Guangdong Software Industry Association (GDSIA)’s Secretary General Lyu Hui and APICTA’s Chairman Stan Singh delivered their remarks.

Along with BASIS executive committee, BASIS President represented Bangladesh at the opening ceremony. After the inauguration, EXCO meeting and judges meeting held.

From Oct 10 onwards, formal judging session begun. On Oct 11, Bangladesh participated in Guangzhou Night. At the program Bangladesh delegation highlighted the country’s cultural heritage. Bangladesh also took part in PWTC expo.

With the award giving ceremony and the gala night APICTA 2018 came to an end on Oct 13.

81 delegates from Bangladesh participated in this global event led by BASIS President. BASIS Senior Vice-President Farhana A Rahman, Vice-President (Admin), and Judge of APICTA Shoeb Ahmed Masud, Director and Judge of APICTA Didarul Alam, Bangladesh Coordinator in APICTA Mostafizur Rahaman Sohel, Judge of APICTA Abdullah H Kafi, Ehsanul Parvez, Joint Secretary (Organizational Support & Innovation Branch), ICT Division, and Dr. Muhammed Mehedi Hassan, Deputy Secretary (ICT Promotion Section), ICT Division, also joined in the Bangladesh delegation.
