The government has nationalised a total of 271 colleges across the country. Education ministry today issued a gazette notification in this regard, effectuating the decision from Aug 8 this year.
The Ministry of Education has brought 271 private colleges under the Monthly Payment Order (MPO) facility. These institutions have been brought under government facility as promised by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to bring one school-college under government facility in each district and upazila, local media reports said.
It has been issued from Department of Secondary and Higher Education of the Ministry of Education on Sunday (Aug 12) that, “As per Government Certified College Teacher and Employee Empowerment Rules–2012, a total of 271 colleges under districts and upazilas have been brought under government facility from 8 August.”
