Bangladesh Election Commission said it has decided to complete all preparations for the upcoming 11th parliamentary election by Oct 30. The schedule for the Jatiya Sangsad polls will also be announced by the end of October, EC secretary Helaluddin Ahmed said. The decision was made in an EC meeting on Tuesday (Jul 10).
After the meeting, EC secretary Helaluddin Ahmed told reporters that a number of agendas were discussed in today’s meeting. EC will also give directions to create a compact disk of voter list before October.
According to constitution, the next parliamentary election must be held from Oct 30 to Jan 19 next year.
The secretary said, “We will announce the schedule after completing all preparations by end of October. The commission also made a decision on the third gender people and they will be enlisted as voters in hermaphrodite voter from next year.”
Mentioning that Voter Day will be celebrated from Mar 1 next year, the secretary said observing the day will create awareness of voting rights, election and national identity among people.
