The Bangladesh Awami League and Bangladesh Nationalist Party-backed mayoral aspirants will begin their campaign from today for the upcoming Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) polls, which is slated to be held on Jun 26.
Earlier, Awami League-backed candidate Jahangir Alam collected his symbol ‘boat’ and BNP-backed Hasan Uddin Sarker collected his symbol ‘paddy stack’ from the regional election commissioner Rakibuddin Mandol.
Marking the city corporation election, Gazipur Peshajibi Somonnyo Parishad will organize a view exchange meeting at Gazipur Press Club on Jun 20, local media reports said.
This is the second election after Gazipur City Corporation was established.
