Bangladesh Election Commission has announced the schedule for Rajshahi, Sylhet and Barisal cities election. Election Commission Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed announced the key deadlines for the Jul 30 polls on Wednesday (Jun 13), local media reports said.
According to the election schedule announced, the last date for filing nomination is Jun 28 and withdrawing Jul 9. The nomination papers will be scrutinized on Jul 1 and 2.
The tenures of three city corporations will expire by this October. The tenure of Rajshahi City Corporation will expire Oct 5 and Sylhet on Oct 8 and Barisal on Oct 24.
The electoral law stipulates that the elections to the city corporations will be held within six months before the expiry of the local body.
Meanwhile, the Gazipur City Corporation will go to the polls on Jun 28.
