Indonesia keen to explore areas of future investments in BD

Visiting Indonesian Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Arrmanatha Christiawan Nasir who is leading a trade delegation has expressed his country’s readiness to explore mutually beneficial sectors for future investments in Bangladesh. He said this in a meeting with foreign adviser of the interim government Touhid Hossain at the foreign ministry on Monday (Jun 2) afternoon, said a foreign ministry’s press release.

During the meeting, they discussed a wide range of bilateral, regional and trade and investment related issues. Both the sides discussed the possibility of greater cooperation in the fields of power generation, energy storage and energy infrastructure development in Bangladesh.

Indonesian Vice Minister described Bangladesh as their strategic and an important trade partner in the South Asia region.

The visiting Minister emphasized boosting people-to-people contacts, especially among students and academics.

Foreign Adviser stressed the importance of regular institutional dialogues for deepening bilateral relations. Both agreed to hold the next Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) by August this year.

The Foreign Adviser appreciated Indonesia’s continued support for the repatriation of the forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals Rohingya from Bangladesh.
