Momtaz on six-day remand in two cases

A court on Thursday (May 22) placed former Member of Parliament from Manikganj-2 constituency and singer Momtaz Begum on a six-day remand in two separate cases. Senior Judicial Magistrate Ivy Akter granted two-day remand as police produced Momtaz before the court and pleaded to place her on a six-day remand in a murder case filed with Singair Police Station, local media reported.

In another case, Senior Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Abdun Nur granted her four-day remand as police produced Momtaz before the court and pleaded to place her on a six-day remand.

Momtaz was at Kashimpur jail after four days remand in two separate cases filed with Singair Police Station and Harirampur Police Station.

Earlier, a team of the Detective Branch of Police arrested Momtaz Begum from the city's Dhanmondi area on Monday (May 19) as she was accused in multiple cases of the July-August mass uprising.
