British High Commissioner meets Jamaat-e-Islami Amir

British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke on Tuesday (Mar 11) paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman at the Jamaat central office in Dhaka in the morning. “British High Commissioner arrived at Jamaat office at 11 a.m.  During the meeting, they exchanged greetings in a very cordial atmosphere and exchanged views on the overall political situation of Bangladesh,” said a release.

Apart from the present political situation of the country, establishment of democracy, upcoming elections, human rights situation, the condition of minorities in Bangladesh and the Rohingya issues dominated the discussion, it said.

They also discussed ways to further improve and strengthen the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Great Britain, the release added.

The British High Commissioner was accompanied by Political Counselor Timothy Duckett.
