Five women, cricket team honored on Int'l Women's Day

Five outstanding women and the Bangladesh National Women's Cricket Team were honoured with "Indomitable Women's Award-2025" for their significant contributions to various fields. Chief Adviser of the interim government Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus conferred the awards upon them at an award distribution ceremony held at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka marking the International Women's Day, local media reported.

Women and Children Affairs Adviser Sharmeen S Murshid chaired the event attended by members of the Council of Advisers, diplomats stationed in Dhaka, women leaders and senior government officials.

Sharifa Sultana, Halima Begum, Marina Besra, Lipi Begum, Muhin Mohona, members of the Bangladesh National Women's Cricket team were among the recipients of the award.

U.N. Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh Gwyn Lewis and Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism at Dhaka University Gitiara Nasreen and Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Mamtaj Ahmed also spoke at the function.

A documentary was screened at the event. A powerful and emotional cultural event was also held highlighting the July uprising.
