U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan has thanked Chief Adviser of the interim government Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus for his leadership in Bangladesh during a challenging period. "Mr. Sullivan re-iterated the United States' support for a prosperous, stable, and democratic Bangladesh," said a readout issued by the White House on Monday (Dec 23) evening.
The White House made the statement following a telephone conversation between U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and Bangladesh's Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus on Monday.
During the conversation, it said, Sullivan offered the United States' continued support in meeting the challenges Bangladesh faces.
"Both leaders expressed their commitment to respecting and protecting the human rights of all people, regardless of religion," said the White House.
