Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman on Saturday (Nov 30) said they want to build a discrimination free harmonious Bangladesh in future where people of all religions and castes will enjoy equal opportunities. “We want to ensure the rights of every person in society,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at the annual workers' conference of Satkhira District Unit of the party at Satkhira Government Boys’ High School ground, local media reported.

The Jamaat Ameer called upon all to build unwavering unity in view of national interests. Dr Shafiqur also said that the dictator was ousted in exchange of blood of hundreds of students. He urged all to remain vigilant against any kind of conspiracy so that tyrants cannot appear again on the soil of Bengal anymore.

In the past 17 years, the people of Satkhira have been subjected to repression most, he said, adding that Satkhira lawmaker Maulana Abdul Khalek Mandal’s residence was demolished with a bulldozer during the period.

The party’s workers’ conference of Satkhira district was held after a long 17 years. A large number of leaders and workers of Jamaat joined the event.
