Portfolios of 7 advisers redistributed in reshuffle

Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has redistributed portfolios of seven advisers, hours after three new faces were inducted into the council of advisers, according to a gazette notification issued by the Cabinet Division at early hours on Monday (Nov 11).

Sheikh Bashir Uddin has been made Adviser for Commerce Ministry as well as Jute and Textile Ministry while Mostofa Sarowar Farooki got the portfolio of Cultural Affairs Ministry, among the new faces. But newly appointed Mahfuj Alam did not get any ministry.

Muhammad Yunus will now oversee Cabinet Division, the Ministry of Defence, Armed Forces Division and the Ministry of Public Administration.

Yunus left the Ministry of Food to Ali Imam Majmudar, who was attached to the Chief Adviser's Office. The Chief Adviser also left Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry to Hassan Ariff, who will also continue to oversee the land ministry.

Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain got the portfolio of LGRD and Cooperatives Ministry in place of Hasan Ariff. He will continue to oversee the Youth and Sports Ministry.

Current Shipping Adviser Brigadier General (Rtd.) Dr. M Sakhawat Hussain got the additional charge of Labour and Employment Ministry. Earlier, Asif Mahmud was the adviser of the ministry.

Salehuddin Ahmed will now oversee only the Finance Ministry as Sheikh Bashir Uddin was made Commerce Adviser as well as he will also take the charge of jute and textile ministry from Sakhawat Hussain.

Professor Asif Nazrul who was in charge of three ministries now will look after law, justice and parliamentary affairs ministry and expatriate welfare and overseas employment ministry as Farooki will oversee the cultural affairs ministry.
