A batting disaster after a strong start led Bangladesh to a 92-run defeat to Afghanistan in the three-match ODI series opener on Wednesday (Nov 6) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Opting to bat first, Afghanistan recovered from a 71-5 to post 235 before being all out.
Unlike their top-order collapse in the recent Test series, Bangladesh this time found them in wanting after a good start. They appeared to secure an effortless victory after reaching 132-3, but thereafter tasted a sensational collapse that saw them losing seven wickets for 11 runs.
The Tigers eventually were bundled out for meager 143 in 34.3 overs.
The second ODI is on Saturday at the same venue.
