Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Adviser Md Nahid Islam on Monday (Sep 23) asked Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) to strengthen the capacity of data centre, saying cyber security is now as important as border security. The adviser made this remark while exchanging views with the officials of the BCC at the ICT Tower in Dhaka, said a ministry press release.
At the outset of the meeting, Nahid Islam, also the adviser of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, was apprised of the activities of the BCC. “Our main goal is to build a corruption-free Bangladesh,” he said, urging the BCC to work with dedication and efficiency keeping in minds the principles and ideals of the organization.
About the steps taken on the basis of various complaints and irregularities, the BCC officials said that several committees have already been formed, while two officers have been given compulsory leave.
They also informed the adviser that a technical committee has been formed to review all the projects. The officials, however, highlighted the complications in BCC during approval of projects.
The adviser laid emphasis on carrying out the works by various investigation committees to investigate the complaints with transparency to bring the real culprits to trial.
ICT Division Secretary Sheesh Haider Chowdhury and BCC high officials were present in the meeting.
