DMP bans meeting, rally near Chief Adviser's residence, secretariat

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on all kinds of public assemblage, meeting, rally, procession and demonstration near the Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus's official residence Jamuna and Bangladesh Secretariat until further notice. DMP issued a public notice to this end in on Monday (Aug 26). The DMP imposed the ban as per Section 29 of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance to maintain public order amid the recent circumstances, it added.

Earlier, members of Ansar were locked into a clash with students in front of the Secretariat around 9:20 p.m. on Sunday leaving at least 40 people injured.

One of the key coordinators of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Hasnat Abdullah was critically injured in the clash. He was taken to One Stop Emergency Center at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

In-charge of the DMCH police outpost, confirmed it to the media.
