Chief Adviser, 13 advisers pay tributes to Liberation War martyrs

Chief Adviser of the newly formed interim government Dr Muhammad Yunus and thirteen advisers paid homage to the martyrs of the Liberation War by placing wreaths at the National Memorial in Savar on Friday (Aug 9) morning. At first, Dr Yunus placed the wreath around 10am amid heavy rain and stood in solemn silence here for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memories of the martyrs of the 1971 War of Liberation. A smartly turned-out contingent drawn from Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Air Force presented a state salute on the occasion when bugles played the last post, local media reported.

The advisers of the newly formed interim government, the chiefs of the three services, and high civil and military officials were present on the occasion. Later, flanked by other advisers, he also placed another wreath. The chief adviser signed the visitors' book.

Earlier, the chief advisor arrived at the National Memorial by a helicopter while chiefs of three services received him. The Chief Adviser along with other advisers left the National Memorial at 10.20am for the capital city to pay homage to the martyrs of the Language Movement at the Central Shaheed Minar.

The chief adviser and other advisers of the interim government were sworn-in on Thursday night.
