A 5.5 magnitude earthquake jolted different parts of the country including the capital at 7.13 p.m. on Wednesday (May 29) evening. "The quake was felt in Dhaka, Sylhet, Chattogram and other parts of the country," Golam Mostofa, an official of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department told media.
The epicentre of the earthquake was in Mawlaik in Myanmar, about 439km east of the Dhaka city.
No casualties or damage were reported immediately.
