PM asks to reduce tariff on four products

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given directives to authorities concerned to reduce tariff on four essential items – rice, edible oil, sugar and date. She gave the directive in a cabinet meeting on Monday (Jan 29) at her office in the capital's Tejgaon. Later, Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain in a press conference disclosed the decisions taken in the meeting, local media reported.

Ahead of the Holy month of Ramadan, the premier gave directives to the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to reduce tariff on the four essentials commodities, the Cabinet Secretary said adding now the NBR will decide how much tariff will be reduced.
