Dhaka metro rail to run till 8 p.m. from Saturday

The Dhaka metro rail will run from Uttara to Motijheel till 8:00 p.m. six days a week from Saturday (Jan 20). MAN Siddique, the Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), told media about the extension of timing at a press conference in the capital on Thursday (Jan 18) afternoon. The first metro rail will leave Uttara North station at 7:10 a.m. and the last metro rail will leave Motijheel at 8:40 p.m., he said. The weekly holiday of the metro rail will remain on Friday.

The 13 hours of the new schedule were split into four segments. Trains will run every 10 minutes from 7:10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (peak hours), every 12 minutes from 11:31 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (off-peak), and every 10 minutes from 4:01 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (peak), said a DMTCL press release.

Only MRT Pass and Rapid Pass holders will be able to get on the two trains that leave Uttara North station at 7:10 a.m. and 7:20 a.m. Similarly, only these pass holders will be able to ride the four metro rails that will leave Motijheel stations between 8:00 p.m. to 8:40 p.m.

The last train from Motijheel at 8:40 p.m. will return to Uttara North station.
