Drives for closure of unauthorized health centres starts soon: Health Minister

Health Minister Samanta Lal Sen on Wednesday (Jan 17) said the government will start the drive for closure of unauthorized health centres, diagnostic centres, clinics and other healthcare facilities soon. "I directed the authorities concerned for closure of all unregistered hospitals, diagnostic centres, and clinics across the country," he told journalists while placing wreaths at the grave of his childhood friend Sheikh Kamal and other martyrs who were killed on Aug 15, in 1975, an official release said.

The health minister said, "I asked officials concerned how many health centres, diagnostic centres, clinics and healthcare facilities are currently operating in the country."

"It will be good for us, if owners of illegally run healthcare centres, clinics and diagnostics centres shut down their unauthorized healthcare establishments," he said otherwise the government will take necessary measure for closure of these unregistered healthcare facilities.

Samanta Lal Sen said the main aims of the government are to improve healthcare services from national level to grassroots levels. "We will work sincerely to fulfill this target," he added.

At a function held on Wednesday, the health minister said the government will show zero tolerance against corruption simultaneously, "We will take tough measures against unauthorized hospitals, diagnostic centres, and clinics."
