Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun on Sunday (Jan 14) said that the government is taking initiatives to provide export incentives in the leather industry like the garments sector. "I want to work for the country, for the people of the country. I would like to repay the responsibility entrusted to me by the Prime Minister," he said while taking charge as the Industries Minister for the second term at Industries Ministry conference room in the city, said a press release.
In order to achieve self-sufficiency in the production of fertilizer, he said, initiatives are being taken to set up a modern fertilizer factory in the place of the old fertilizer factory in Ashuganj and a new fertilizer factory in Bhola.
"According to the instructions of the Prime Minister, we have adopted the action plan by prioritizing these issues," he added.
He said Industries Ministry wants to modernize the sugar mills and turn them into profitable enterprises. A salt institute will be set up in Cox's Bazar for the development of salt industry, he added.
