The by-elections to Brahmanbaria-2 and Lakshmipur-3 constituencies will be held on Nov 5. Election Commission Secretary Jahangir Alam announced the schedule of the elections after a meeting of the commissioners on Tuesday (Oct 3). Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal chaired the meeting, local media reported.
According to the schedule, the last date for submission of nomination paper is Oct 11. The nomination papers will be scrutinized on Oct 12. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is Oct 19 and symbols will be distributed on Oct 20.
Bangladesh Election Commission on Sunday announced the two constituencies vacant after the deaths of former aviation and tourism minister and Lakshmipur-3 lawmaker AKM Shahjahan Kamal and Brahmanbaria-2 lawmaker Abdus Sattar Bhuiyan.
