UAE envoy assures of continued cooperation over sea port, infrastructure

United Arab Emirates (UAE) new ambassador in Bangladesh Ali Abdulla Khaseif AlHmoudi on Wednesday (May 17) assured Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of continued cooperation over development of Bangladesh's infrastructure and sea port as he called on her at her official residence Ganabhaban. "UAE will continue cooperation in development of Bangladesh's infrastructure and sea port for mutual benefit," PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim quoted the UAE envoy as telling the premier at their courtesy meeting.

Chattogram port authority officials said a G to G deal has already signed between Bangladesh and UAE on particularly Chattogram port development cooperation. They said the UAE also want to operate a jetty of the bay terminal and New Mooring container terminal at Chattogram port.

While briefing media after the meeting, Karim said the UAE envoy also assured that his county will carry forward the friendship of cooperation with Bangladesh.

The UAE ambassador, as well, apprised the PM of his meeting with the state minister of civil aviation and tourism regarding the issue of cooperation in the aviation sector.

He said the foundation of the bilateral relation between Bangladesh and the UAE was laid by Fathers of the two nations Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan through the visit of Bangabandhu in 1974. Later, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan also visited Dhaka in 1984 and played very pivotal role in establishing solid foundation of the bilateral ties between the two brotherly countries, he added.

During the meeting, the PM highly appreciated the UAE leadership as they are going to host the COP-28 summit in Dubai in November next.

While talking about Bangladeshi expatriates working in the UAE, Sheikh Hasina put emphasis on learning Arabic language for those willing to go to the UAE and other Arab Countries for seeking job.

Welcoming the new envoy of the UAE in Dhaka, the PM assured him of providing all cooperation during his stay in Bangladesh. She also conveyed her best wishes to the UAE leadership through the ambassador.

Prime Minister's Ambassador-at-Large Mohammad Ziauddin and Prime Minister's Principal Secretary Mohammad Tofazzel Hossain Miah was present.
