Japanese ‘Manga’ art graphics novel on Bangabandhu unveiled

In celebration of fifty years of Bangladesh-Japan friendship, a graphics novel titled ‘Father of the Nation Bangabandhu’ in Japanese comic and cartoon-style art form ‘Manga’ was unveiled on Wednesday (Apr 5) at a city hotel. Published by NRB Scholars Publishers, the comic genre book was jointly authored by Scholars Bangladesh Society founder and president M E Chowdhury Shamim and Shine Partners Corporation, Japan CEO Yemoto Kieta, a press release said.

Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's long struggle for the independence of Bangladesh and his illustrious life were sketched in narrative and exceptional images in the book.

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen was present as the chief guest on the occasion and Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Iwama Kiminori was the special guest.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Research Institute for Peace and Liberty of Dhaka University Director Professor Fakhrul Alam presented the keynote, while Bangla Academy Director General Muhammad Nurul Huda, Max Group Chairman and BUET Graduates Club President Golam Mohammad Alamgir were also present, among others.

Scholars Bangladesh Society co-founder and CEO Dilara Afroz Khan Rupa conducted the event.

‘Manga’ is a Japanese art form that encompasses drawn cartoons, comic books, and graphic novels.
