JP will take part in the next election: Roushan

Describing the election as an integral part of democracy, leader of the opposition in parliament and chief patron of Jatiyo Party Begum Raushan Ershad on Monday (Mar 27) said her party will take part in the next general election and urged party leaders and activists to take preparation in this regard. She urged the party leaders and activists to remain united, saying party's council will have to be fished immediately following arisen of any complicacy to this end, local media reported.

"There is no division in Jatiyo Party as its all activities are being run in line with the instructions given by late party chairman HM Ershad," she told a discussion marking the Independence and National Day at a city community centre.

Begum Raushan Ershad called for fixing district level leadership from now on as Jatiya Party will launch organizational programmes after the Ramadan. And those who will not abide by the party orders will face consequences, she said, adding that party will be strengthened if dedicated leaders and activists and old and new leadership work together.

She said the Bangalee achieved independence at the call of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and after braving many hurdles, Bangladesh is now established as a developing nation in the world.

Rahgir Al Mahi Saad Ershard, MP, opposition chief whip Mashiur Rahman Ranga, former JP presidium member and actor Masud Parvez Sohel Rana, former state minister Golam Sarwar Milon and former Vice-Chairman Prof Iqbal Hossain Raju, among others, were present at the discussion.
