Marquinhos, Richarlison to miss friendly

Marquinhos, Richarlison to miss friendly

Forward Richarlison and defender Marquinhos will both miss Brazil's friendly against Morocco on Mar 25 due to injury, joining star Neymar on the absent list, the team said. The new injuries leave the five-time world champions without a string of top players as they prepare to take on surprise World Cup semi-finalists Morocco in Tangier in their first match since Qatar.

Brazilian stars Marquinhos and Richarlison will join their teammate Neymar Jr. in missing their friendly game against Morocco due to injury.

Paris Saint-Germain center-back Marquinhos sustained an injury against Ligue 1 side FC Nantes which places him on the sideline for the international friendly on Mar 25. Juventus defender Gleison Bremer will replace him in the squad.

Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison also sustained an injury three minutes into the game with Premier League team Southampton.

The attacker, who had strong performances during the 2022 World Cup, will be replaced by Yuri Alberto, who plays as a forward for Brazilian club Corinthians. This will be the first national team call-up for Alberto.

The Atlas Lions are facing the Brazilian side at the Tangier Grand Stadium on Mar 25.

Morocco’s head coach Walid Regragui expressed excitement for the game against Brazil, describing the South American country as one of the world’s best footballing cultures.

The squad will also face Peru on Mar 28, at the Civitas Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid.

Brazil is already missing stars such as Neymar Jr., who is set to undergo surgery for an ankle ligament injury and will miss the remainder of the 2022-23 football season.

Morocco will be hoping to build on the achievements of the 2022 World Cup by taking on one of the world’s top-ranking nations, who were favorites to take the World Cup trophy home before an unceremonious exit in the quarter-finals.
