‘Poush Parban-2023’ pitha festival held at UAP

The Department of Law and Human Rights of University of Asia Pacific organized a ‘Poush Parban-2023’ festival at their permanent campus at Green Road on Jan 31 to celebrate the jolly spirit of winter with “Pithas”.

Dr. M. Alauddin, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT), UAP, Professor Dr. Qumrul Ahsan, Vice-Chancellor, UAP; Professor Dr. Md. Sultan Mahmud, Pro Vice Chancellor, UAP; Dr. Chowdhury Israk Ahmed Siddiky, Associate Professor and Head of the Department, Law and Human Rights; and Associate Professor Md. Asaduzzaman was present at the event.

The guests visited the stalls prepared by the students and tasted various pithas prepared by them. Among the variety of pithas at the stall were Vapa, Coconut Dudh-Puli, Coconut Puli, Patisapta, Anarkali, Dudhsagar, Bibikhana, Semai Pitha, Dim Chitai, Kuli Pitha, Til Puli, Mera Pitha, Golapphul Pitha, Hilsa Pitha, Amitti, Amitti, Chidar. Moa, Murir Moa, Coconut Nadu, Murali, Malpoa, Rasabra, Ras Kheer, Phirni, Kata Pitha, Jhinuk Pitha, Chidar Barfi, Gokulpitha, Phuljhuri Pitha, Chitai Pitha, etc.

Teachers and students gathered to see and taste these Bengali traditional pithas. The rural atmosphere was created by the performance of folk songs by the students. The cultural program continued till afternoon.

Alida Binte Saqi, Lecturer of the Department of Law and Human Rights, coordinated the pitha festival. The stall named “31 ‘Er Naior” by the 31st Batch, 5th Semester, won the best stall award in the festival.
