IMF DMD pays courtesy call on DU VC

Visiting Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Antoinette Monsio Sayeh on Tuesday (Jan 17) paid a courtesy call on the Dhaka University's Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman at his office.

After the meeting, Antoinette Monsio visited the university's Economics Department and participated a view-exchange meeting and a question/answer session with the faculty members and students of the department.

During the meeting, the VC apprised the IMF Deputy Managing Director of a brief history of the Dhaka University and its academic and research programmes, said a press release.

This largest public university of the country has been running with fully government fund since its inception, said Dr Akhtaruzzaman.

IMF Deputy Managing Director highly praised this historic Dhaka University and expressed her happiness to know that a huge number of students have been pursuing tertiary level education with residential facilities at this premier and prestigious public university which is fully funded by the government.

Md. Akhtaruzzaman thanked the IMF Deputy Managing Director for her visit to and keen interest in its academic and research activities.
