Bangladesh Chhatra League (BSL) has announced yearlong programme marking its 75th founding anniversary to the celebrated on Wednesday (Jan 4). BCL President Saddam Hussain announced the programme at a press conference at Madhu's Canteen on the Dhaka University campus on Tuesday (Jan 3), local media reported.
National and party flags will be hoisted at all organization offices including its central office at 6 a.m. on the anniversary day. The theme of the anniversary programme is set as "Digital Bangladesh Drishyaman, Lakkhya Ebar Smart Bangladesh Binirman" (Digital Bangladesh is visible, now the target is to build a Smart Bangladesh").
To mark the anniversary, tributes will be paid at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi road number 32 in the capital at 8.30 a.m.
A cake will be cut at 9 a.m. at the Curzon Hall on DU campus at 9 a.m. Winter clothes will be distributed among poor will be held at 3 p.m.
A procession will be brought out marking the founding anniversary at 2.30 p.m. on Jan 6.
Blood group testing, voluntarily blood donation, distribution of educational equipment among students will be held from Jan 5 to 8.
Besides, BSL will observe different programmes throughout the year which includes taking initiatives of cultivation of vegetables, fruits and fishes and domestic animal rearing. But schedule of the yearlong programme will be fixed later.
View-exchange programme on 'united students community in building smart Bangladesh' with progressive student organizations will be arranged.
Concert for Bangladesh and a reunion of BSL will be arranged.
Commemorative books on 75 years of pride, heritage, struggle and success of BSL will be published and smart Bangladesh idea contest will be arranged.
Libraries will be set up at offices of all organizational units across the country, smart youth camp and short film contest on Sheikh Hasina's development and progress will be arranged for higher secondary level students.
At university level, development quiz competition, lecture competitions on women empowerment and Sheikh Hasina for women students, Sajeeb Wazed Joy programming contest, international academic conference on 'Smart Bangladesh' and 'Smart Campus', 'Smart Bangladesh' Olympiad will be arranged.
BSL General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Enan, BCL's Dhaka University unit President Mazharul Kabir Shayan and its General Secretary Tanbir Hasan Shaikat, Dhaka City South unit President Rajibul Islam Bappy and General Secretary Sajal Kundu were present at the press conference.
The student organization was founded on Jan 4 in 1948 at the instruction of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
