A moderate earthquake measuring 5.1 magnitude in the Richter Scale hit most of the places of the country including capital Dhaka this morning as no damage was reported immediately.
The epicenter of the tremor was located at the South-West side of the Bay of Bengal, 520 kilometers north of Dhaka, Nizam Uddin, a meteorologist at Dhaka met office told National News Agency of Bangladesh.
He said the earthquake struck at the depth of 10 kilometers and occurred around 9:02 am which lasted for a few seconds.
No damage was reported by now due to the tremor, he added.
According to the seismologists, an earthquake ranging from 5 to 5.9 scale is considered as moderate.
