‘Cyber Security Awareness Day’ observed at DIU

Prof. Dr. Md. Sazzad Hossain, Member, University Grants Commission of Bagladesh inaugurated the Lab of Cyber Security Center of Daffodil International University (DIU) at Daffodil Smart City, Ashulia, Dhaka along with Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman of Board of Trustees, Professor Dr. M Lutfar Rahman, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr, SM Mahbub Ul Haque Majumdar, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Md. Fokhray Hossain, Dean of FSIT and Maruf Hasan, Director of the DIU Cyber Security Center of DIU.

On the occasion of International Cyber Security Month, Daffodil International University's Cyber Security Center observed ‘Cyber Security Awareness Day-2022’ on Nov 12. This year the theme of the day is ‘Don’t let Cyber Crime ruin your life’. Prof. Dr. Md. Sazzad Hossain, Member, University Grants Commission of Bagladesh was present as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the daylong event in Daffodil Smart City, Ashulia, Dhaka.

Besides the chief guest, the inauguration ceremony was addressed by Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman of Board of Trustees of DIU, Professor Dr. M Lutfar Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of DIU, Prof. Dr, SM Mahbub Ul Haque Majumdar, Pro-Vice-Chancellor or DIU, Prof. Dr. Md. Fokhray Hossain, Dean of FSIT, Maruf Hasan, Director of the DIU Cyber Security Center. Departments Heads from several departments and other faculty members and students were also present in the event.

This occasion was furnished with seven events for the audience, such as inauguration of Cyber Security Center Lab, awareness seminar, Google Hacking Contest, cyber security awareness project showcasing, panel discussion, product showcasing, and closing ceremony, respectively.

More than hundred teams from all over the country participated in the competition. BASIS, ISAS, Trust Aira and Softhub BD are supporting these day-long events.

While addressing at the inauguration session Professor Dr. Md. Sajjad Hossain said, we have already managed to digitize the entire country according to the Prime Minister’s vision 2021. But now is the time to strengthen our digital security in this age of information technology; and this is why we need to create awareness among mass people about Cyber Security. He also said that the best opportunity to work for the people of the country is for the youth during their education. DIU has such an excellent Cyber Security Center and its labs, which our students can avail themselves of in cyber security.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of DIU, Dr. Md. Sabur Khan said, I am very optimistic about our youth. Our Alumni and current students have already distinguished themselves and have been able to contribute in various sectors of the country. I hope current students will also be interested in using the Cyber Security Center.
