BOU observes Int’l Day for Universal Access to Information

Bangladesh Open University (BOU) on Wednesday (Sep 28) observed the International Day for Universal Access to Information, highlighting the importance of free flow of information in building bridge between the government and the people.

To mark the day, BOU Right to Information Action Plan Implementation Committee in association with the Information and Public Relations Division (IPRD) organized a discussion and published IPRD news clipping book and information cyclopedia on the university campus, said a press release.

BOU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Syed Humayun Akhter addressed the discussion and unveiled the IPRD news clipping book as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Humayun said free flow of information plays a vital role in upholding the relationship of trust between the state and the people since the right to information is considered as a determinant of empowering people.

Noting that BOU Right to Information Action Plan Implementation Committee is working to reach the benefits of the Right to Information Act, 2009 to the doorsteps of the university stakeholders, he said as a government institution, the BOU is determined to give accurate and necessary information to its stockholders, including students, guardians and concerned others.

BOU Pro-VC (Administration) Professor Dr Nasim Banu, Treasurer Professor Mostafa Azad Kamal and Registrar Dr Mohammad Shafiqul Alam spoke at the discussion, among others, while IPRD acting Director Dr AFM Mejbah Uddin conducted it.
