E-bus service for students likely to launch in December

E-bus service for students likely to launch in December

The country's first environment-friendly electric bus (e-bus) service for school students will likely start its operations this December. The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) authorities are working to import the air-conditioned e-buses, which will operate in Gulshan, Banani, and Baridhara areas of the city, local media reported.

During the initial phase of the project, the students of four English medium schools, namely Scholastica School, Sir John Wilson School, Bangladesh International Tutorial and Chittagong Grammar School Dhaka, will be able to avail the services.

If the project turns out to be a success, then all schools in the capital city will eventually be brought under the project.

According to sources at the DNCC, the new e-buses are going to be air-conditioned, have CCTV cameras and will be specifically used for providing transportation services to school-going students.

The DNCC has initiated the pilot project with the aim to reduce carbon emissions and help reduce pollution in the capital.
